What if I told you that you could indulge your inner foodie for a good cause? That is what happened to me when I attended Emory Point’s foodie fundraising series two weeks ago. Grillin’ & Chillin’ is a series event that has some of Atlanta’s top chefs and mixologists serve some amazing food and delicious drinks all in the name of charity. Each event raises money for a different local nonprofit by donating  100% of its ticket sales.

I had the pleasure of attending their June 9th event in which donations went to the Decatur Education Foundation to help local youth in the city of Decatur. When I first arrived, I felt instantly in love with event setup. The organizers had blankets on the ground for those who wanted to eat, drink, and enjoy the wonderful music picnic style. There was also tables and chairs for those who wanted to sit and eat along with a cornhole station for the adults and kids to enjoy.

Rusty Bowers, Owner of Pine Street Market, and Jeff Sellers, Executive Chef of Leon’s Full Service were the guest chef’s for the night and made a delicious dinner fit for a lovely evening outside. I was served a smoked chicken sausage with bacon and sage accompanied by a refreshing melon salad and spring harvest vegetables. The food was absolutely delicious and filling. Rick Blumberg of Marlow’s Tavern had me in bourbon heaven with his signature cocktail he crafted for the evening. The drink was so light and refreshing I couldn’t even believe it was made with bourbon.

I have to mention my source of live entertainment at the event by Lilac Wine. They provided some covers to some of my favorite songs and made me want to never leave. I really enjoyed this event and can’t wait to attend tomorrow’s Grillin’ & Chillin’ when the proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. Did I mention you get all of this awesomeness for only $25? Make sure to head over to Culinary Local to purchase your tickets now!
