It is officially a new year and with that comes an entirely new travel list to create. One of the places on my travel list for 2016, and most definitely needs to be your 2017 list was to visit the color city of Cartagena. I had a few friends of mine ask me about my trip to Cartagena and where they should stay during their visit. After I told them about my amazing trip I also had to tell them of how my experience was also elevated from my stay in the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena.
When I arrived at the hotel I was so excited. I went to the front lobby to check-in and was instantly greeted by one of the staff members. They got me checked into my hotel, provided me with Wi-Fi information, and answered all of my questions. As I was leaving the front desk, I could see the amazing courtyard, and I would later find out this is where you can also dine when you are hungry. The hotel décor sticks to the colonial architecture of the city while adding modern comforts, making it an amazingly beautiful hotel. You know luxury when you see it, and the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena definitely is a luxurious space. After finally focusing my gaze on what was actually in front of me, I took the elevator up to my room to see where I would be staying for the next few days.
The room was gorgeous. It was my first experience staying in a Sofitel hotel and they did not disappoint at all. Marbles floors, high ceilings, and a large bed that gave me a ton of space to really relax. First, let’s talk room location. My room overlooked the swimming pool, making for great views from the balcony. There wasn’t a terrible amount of noise coming from the pool area so that should not be a concern. It actually was the perfect location because I could walk out of my door into the hallway and see what was happening outside in the city courtyard without having to leave the hotel. The bathroom had a glass shower and a separate closed off space for those more private moments.
Now let’s talk about my favorite topic, food. The Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena has two different dining experiences to choose from with El Caustro and Restaurante 1621. El Caustro was one of their main dining halls and provides a welcoming atmosphere and a traditional gourmet brasserie service, offering French dishes fused with the best Caribbean products, served buffet-style and à la carte. I ate most of my meals here whether it being a nice quick breakfast, lunch, or even a late night dinner overlooking the pool. Restaurante 1621 is where traditional Old World cuisine is fused with ingredients from the new continent to create a multi-sensory experience that will please even the most discerning of palates. As you can see from the picture above not only does the food taste amazing its presentation also does not disappoint.
I may have overindulged just a little on all of the great eats, but isn’t that what a vacation is all about? So to make sure I could fit my bikini, I had to hit the gym. The Sofitel offers a wide variety of equipment to suit any convenient workout during your stay. They have fresh towels and even have fresh cold fruit infused water to quench your thirst after a nice workout.
With my muscles now sore from my workout, it was now time to relax, recover, and unwind. The Sofitel Santa Clara So Spa offers a sanctuary of relaxation for the body and soul, in soothing and luxuriously simple surroundings. The So Spa includes 8 treatment rooms, tea area, and solarium. It is the perfect place to pamper yourself after a long day of activities, my favorite experience of trip was right here in the spa getting my massage. After it was over they took me to their lounge area for water, snacks, and more relaxation.
Now you can see exactly why the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena should be on your 2017 travel bucket list. With their high-class amenities, exceptional customer service, and scenic views you may find yourself not even wanting to leave your hotel at all. This is how vacationing should feel and with the Sofitel Hotel collection you will be living in luxury.
